Retailers are gearing up for Black Friday by stocking
shelves and slashing prices, but are those deals really a bargain.? We compared two of the DSLR camera
deals against new and high quality pre-owned items and have some advice on
where you can save even more.

| Canon EOS Rebel T3 |
If you are looking for a DSLR, the Canon T3 is a great
starter camera with a host of great features. Retailers are banking on this being a hot seller, as Target,
Walmart and Best Buy are all heavily promoting the discounted price of
$479. With an MSRP of $549, this
seems like a great deal, but we found the 90 day average used price is still
less at just under $400! Even more,
buying new on the gray market the 90 day average price for a new T3 is around
$441.

| Canon EOS Rebel T3i |
An upgrade from the T3, this DSLR had a more robust feature
set, including a vari-angle LCD screen and 1080p HD video recording. Sears and Best Buy are discounting the
camera to $799 from an MSRP of $899.
PriceAdvice, however, has found that used prices have a 90 day average
between $655-759 depending on the accessories included. That a steep discount! On the gray market, you can pick up a
brand new T3i starting around $655 for the body only.
The bottom line, if you are looking for a quality DSLR and a
great price, there are better deals out there than what’s being offered on
Black Friday.
